Jack McLiney loves watching professional, college, and varsity football. While baseball was once considered “America’s favorite pastime”, American football seems to have taken over that title in recent years.
His favorite football player of all time is Cam Newton from the Carolina Panthers and his favorite NFL team is the Kansas City Chiefs. Jack McLiney also loves watching some of the biggest names in college football, particularly the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Kansas Jayhawks.
Cam Newton
Cam Newton is one of the most inspirational and entertaining quarterbacks in the NFL. He is well known for giving away footballs to kids in the stands after scoring a touchdown. After playing college football at Auburn, Cam Newton was drafted as the first overall pick by the Panther’s in the 2011 NFL Draft. He then went on to become the 2011 NFL Rookie of the Year. Since then, Cam has continued to demonstrate his great skill and determination. Most recently, in 2016, Cam Newton has led his Panthers team to the Super Bowl with a 15-1 regular season record.
Kansas City Chiefs
Based in Kansas City, Missouri, the Kansas City Chiefs make up part of the American Football Conference (AFC) West division in the NFL. Originally, the team was founded in 1960 under the name the Dallas Texans. Just three short years later, however, the team relocated to Kansas City and officially changed their name to the Chiefs. While the Chiefs hold only one Super Bowl victory, won in 1969, Jack McLiney is eager to see how the team will grow and develop in the years to come. He is confident and hopeful for another Super Bowl victory in the near future.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama is recognized as one of the most decorated and storied football programs in the history of the NCAA. Over the years the Crimson Tide has claimed 16 national titles. The team plays in the Western Division of the SEC (Southeastern Conference). They are currently coached by Nick Saban, who was inducted into the Alabama Hall of Fame in May 2013.
Kansas Jayhawks
Representing the University of Kansas, the Kansas Jayhawks compete in the NCAA’s Big 12 Conference. The Jayhawks have a long and celebrated history with their first season beginning in 1890. Some of the greatest names to come out of Kansas football include NFL Hall of Famers Gale Sayers, John Riggins, and Mike McCormack. Other notable players include Bobby Douglass, Nolan Cromwell, and Aqib Talib.
